Stockholm is hoasting IAPCO EDGE, a global meeting point for professionals in the international meetings and events industry. EDGE is about learning, testing ideas and pushing boundaries – and in Stockholm, the conversations were open, honest and highly engaged.
Sustainability was a central theme. Not as a trend or a checklist, but as something that must last. Something that truly sticks. At the same time, the reality is clear: in today’s complex world, sticking with sustainability is a challenge in itself.
Royal Djurgården Society was invited to take an active role, and its CEO Camilla Zedendahl, led two sessions on how sustainability can be embedded in organisations, destinations and events to create long-term impact. The discussions moved quickly from ambition to practice: what works, where it’s challenging, and how to ensure sustainability doesn’t become just a buzzword.
What gave the sessions their energy was the room. Meeting professionals from many parts of the world, united by a shared drive to make a difference. True changemakers, sharing successes and challenges openly – and learning from each other.
A key takeaway was clear: sustainability that sticks requires consistency, collaboration and courage. It means making choices that endure, even when priorities shift or external pressures increase.
The honesty, curiosity and commitment shown during IAPCO EDGE in Stockholm reminds us that meaningful change is possible when people come together with a shared purpose. It was rewarding to contribute to these conversations and share our experience with others.
A warm thank you to IAPCO and all partners and destinations involved – including Stockholm Business Region, Antwerp Convention Bureau, Zurich Convention Bureau, Vienna Convention Bureau, Utrecht & Partners, Göteborg & Co, Montreux-Vevey Tourism, Royal Djurgården and others – for creating a platform where sustainability is not only discussed, but strengthened.
