The course “Royal Djurgården – The Place and the Visitor Economy”, developed by Dalarna University in close collaboration with us at Royal Djurgården Society, is now in full swing. We were thrilled to welcome Besöksliv as they came to experience what it’s like when a university course dedicated to a specific destination is delivered for the first time. It feels both significant and meaningful – for the industry, for the place, and for the future.
Throughout the course, we’ve had the pleasure of gathering at the Nordiska museet Foundation, Cirkus Venues, the National Museum of Science and Technology – and finally, at the historic Gröna Lund amusement park. The students have had the opportunity to meet with our attractions, dive deep into the concept of hospitality, and reflect on the role of tourism in society. Their interest, engagement, and curiosity are both impressive and inspiring.
I feel such pride that we’ve made this possible – together. A heartfelt thank you to Dalarna University, all the dedicated lecturers, and our fantastic members and colleagues at Djurgården who opened their doors and generously shared their knowledge. And last but not least – a huge thank you to the students. You are pioneers. This is just the beginning.
The next course is already being planned for next year.
A special thanks to Djurgården colleagues Gabriella Granditsky Svenson, Magnus Andersson, Annika Brantingson, Karin Ringholm, Annika Gustafsson, and Karin Sallander for sharing your knowledge; to Satu Andersson, Peter Skogh, Sanne Houby-Nielsen, Christer Fogelmarck & Annika Troselius for going the extra mile to make this happen; and to Tobias Heldt & Maria Thulemark who made it all possible.
