– in the world of sustainable tourism.
Now back home, reflecting on the energy, insights – and friendships – from this week’s kickoff meeting in Helsinki.
Change makers!
Royal Djurgarden had the pleasure of representing Sweden, and it’s always a privilege to do this work alongside the best of colleagues: Karin Sallander and Annika Gustafsson. I had the joy of reconnecting with change makers like Liisa Kokkarinen, Matti Pollari, Atlas Juvakka, Hele Lõhmus and Magda Leszczyna-Rzucidło – and of finally meeting new colleagues from Finland, Estonia, Poland, Norway, Lithuania, and Denmark who I’ve only seen on screen before.
Together!
In a friendly and inspiring Helsinki, we launched the Climate Neutral Destinations project – with representatives from the eight destinations in the mentioned seven countries around the Baltic Sea.
Climate change and travellers’ rising demand for sustainable options push us all to do better. By joining forces and building a shared climate strategy toolbox, we’re taking concrete steps toward climate-neutral tourism.
This project will give Djurgården’s attractions – and tourism businesses across the region – practical tools to measure and reduce their climate impact. It also explores how we can handle carbon accounting at a destination level – helping us move from challenge to action, and deliver better, smarter visitor experiences. This is climate action made practical – and a natural part of strategic development across the Baltic.
Thank you to Helsinki for arranging the meeting.
A strong and important collaboration has begun!
